I submitted an application in about May 2014, upon changing my address I called CIC April 2015 I was told that my application was returned. CIC lost my complete document with all my original document. I lost one year of processing time, plus one of my sons drop off because of overage. My partner is now confused and frustrated and to make it worst they refused to issue a work permit. However I reapply and I haven’t heard anything from CIC.

With due respect it is being noted that, I am an Engineer (B.Sc-in-Civil Engineering) working with Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Bangladesh since 1992. Now I am seeking an Overseas Job, mostly in Canada on Lien. I also like to join myself in this Pilot program to Canada Visa Work Permit. Please be noted that, one of my Brother-in-law Mr. Nirmal Sarker working in Toronto, Canada for probably for 20 years.

It is worth adding that this program continues to exclude spouses who fell out of status, although they are still eligible to be sponsored. This affects around 20% of applicants whose families must live in a single income for years, waiting for their applications to reach first stage approval.

Also worth noting, when CIC changed the form for Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking in August of 2014, they returned hundreds of applications between August and September because of this update, that only affected couples with 20 and 21 year old children.

Instead of asking for an updated form, they returned these applications, making many couples on implied status lose their status, and making all of them lose two to four months of progress in processing times.

Now, despite the fact that CIC is the direct responsible for these applicant’s loss of status, they keep excluding them from the program.

Congrats to Phil, Liv and Arianna! It’s important to keep in mind that there are so many positive immigration stories out there. The OWP program has been a huge success and I’m glad that CIC has announced the extension. My only quibble is that they did not simply make it permanent. This program has helped many foreign nationals in Canada in the SCLPC Class.
