What you didn’t cover in this article are the cases where one spouse is duped by the other into believing that they are in a genuine relationship, and as within a year or 2 of arriving in Canada leave the sponsoring spouse and marry someone else. And despite CIC and CBSA being aware of this nothing is done about it.

My wife’s spousal immigration was rejected under Section 117 9d. I was naive and careless for not declaring my marriage at the time of landing when I obtained by PR. I was not married at the time of application. I went home and married to my 8 year long girlfriend.
I certainly did not mean to misrepresent.
My logic was that I was going to apply for her anyways in a couple months. Needless to say it backfired and now I am really really bad spot. CPC Mississauga deemed me ineligible to apply, following suit the High Commission in New Delhi, India refused my application despite it being for H&C consideration.
My only option now is to Appeal the decision made. More wait, more money, uncertainty and above all more stress all looming above my life at present.
There is no way to prove that our relationship is not legit. There is atleast 900 pages worth of conversation, photographs, and travel documents to prove its genuine. But all that is simply misinterpreted as otherwise by the Visa Officer. I hope the appeal judgement is fair to us. It’s our last hope.

Hello, by the time I get my wife to canada, I will be dead of old age most likely and completely broke with all of your hoops, also my mother will have died by then also giving her funds to everyone else in the family except me, thanks a lot ay!

Hi I’m concerned about my case see thing is I was victim of human trafficking and I am not a social woman so I’m sponsoring my husband and I’m hoping that our lack of outings is affect the outcome. I would be devastated to have to leave canada but I will go if he’s deported can you help me please because he has changed my life and we are worried

All marriages are not fraud.Canadians go back home for seeking a life partner from their religion and culture. they get married back home whom they like but when they come back to Canada and apply for sponsorship and permanent Resident visa for spouse they are forced by Canadian immigration system to wait for more then two years to reunite and to start a new life.
Things become very frustrating when immigration officers dealing with any file don’t have knowledge of culture of applicant and they and they delay decision.
IRCC should make sure that genuine married cases do not suffer.

I wonder what was the reason she was denied, my fist born son was only 2 yrs then in winnipeg, married(church)his GF, nine months later they were reunited, no interview at all. You can prove their marriage by getting thier marriage certificate at the Phil. Statistics Admin. (NSO).
