I applied litteraly a minute after they opened the new PGP program I think in February, to receive 3 month later a negative answer. Financially between my income and my wife’s we are far within the conditions and requierements to bring my mother to Canada. We have a solid plan and even more solid reasons aside from the emotional factor, to bring my mother to Canada. Not only for the lack of plans from the government as regard as an affordable daycare system that gather at least minimum standards for the well being of our children; not to mention the outrageous prices and stupid conditions the private daycare places are asking; We do want my mother to be the primary caregiver for our children when we are working and be part of their life, since is proven that is a huge benefit intellectually and culturally to be raised in other languages aside from English and/or French. But no, government does not care about family matters…And yes,…. getting in touch with CIC through phone to get a simple answer can be more difficult than an audience with the prime minister. Let’s be straight about it;… they just don’t care…

My parents came over from the UK. A commonwealth country and we KNOW that we qualify. We have enough funds as do my parents.
Why o why are they allowing this lottery with people’s futures?!?
Reading above it states that people were paying too much for courier to allow applications to be submitted on time. I would rather pay this knowing it will be received and in progress rather than waiting 3 months to then find out we were not one of the lucky ones!
What happens to those spaces that applications do not qualify? Will we be contacted to then apply?
This is so frustrating. Our parents don’t have ANY family back home now. They are in their 70’s and want to be with their family.

Come on please re look at this Immigration!

In reply to Anna Reyes. I am really wondering why people are not checking whether they are qualify for submission before they put themselves in the draw. We work so hard to make our self qualify for the program and now we didn't get picked but someone who are not qualify get picked. I am really hoping this system can change a little bit, at least to make sure all the interests in the draw are qualify for submit the application. By the way for the people who are not qualify, please please read the eligibility before you put in draw as there are so many people who have been working hard to meet the qualification and put a lot hope this draw.

In reply to vinay. Hi Vinay, Sorry to know that you have been trying for the last 10 years to bring your mom to Canada. They must have mentioned the reason on why not this time. Are you low on income for the last 3 consecutive years or what?? Are you actively working? I hope you are not on EI or any other welfare from the government. These things matters the most. Hi Stephanie,

The income depends on your family size. The total number of people you are in Canada plus the number of people you are sponsoring are counted as the total number. For eg: you, your souse and if you have 1 kid are 3 people plus whom you are sponsoring lets say your mother & father are 2. So all together your family size will be 5. Now you have to see the income requirement for the family of 5. As per my knowledge (as per federal income table):
For family of 2 the income requirement for the last 3 consecutive tax years is $37,705 for year 2013, $38,272 for year 2014 and $38,618 for year 2015.
For family of 3 the income requirement is $46,354 for year 2013, $47,051 for year 2014 and $47,476 is for year 2015.
For family of 4 the income requirement is $56,280 for year 2013, $57,125 for year 2014 and $57,642 for year 2015
For family of 5 the income requirement is $63,833 for year 2013, $64,791 for year 2014 and $65,377 for year 2015
For family of 6 the income requirement is $71,991 for year 2013, $73,072 for year 2014 and $73,733 for year 2015
For family of 7 the income requirement is $80,153 for year 2013, $81,355 for year 2014 and $82,091 for year 2015.

Check out the income on your notice of assessments for the last three consecutive tax years and count your family size and there you go.

This is truly very frustrating system to choose the applicant on the basis of draw and it has already wasted so much of time and resources of the CIC agency to remove the duplicate files. What about if some one is not lucky enough in coming year to make it to the pool. Means they can never meet their parents even after paying so much in taxes. Disgusting. First come and first serve was the best option.
