The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program’s Express Entry sub-category has now closed, after opening for nearly a day to 500 new applications.

The International Skilled Worker — Express Entry-aligned sub-category opened in the afternoon of Thursday, July 5 —on a first-come, first-served basis — to candidates who had been accepted in the federal Express Entry pool and who .

Express Entry candidates, who obtain a nomination under this category, are awarded an additional 600  points. With the additional points, these candidates are well-positioned to obtain an Invitation to Apply, or ITA, for Canadian permanent residence from the federal government.

Third opening of the year includes an updated SINP In-Demand Occupations list

The July 5 intake marks the third time in 2018 that the SINP opened its to individuals looking to immigrate to Canada.

The two previous intake periods took place on January 10 and June 13, and at each occasion the SINP announced the maximum application allocation of 400 filled within hours.

The SINP has allocated a maximum of 2,600 applications to its International Skilled Worker – Express Entry sub-category for 2018.

Earlier this week, the SINP revamped its In-Demand Occupations. The SINP occupations list is relevant to the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand sub-categories because individuals interested in applying to the SINP through these sub-categories are expected to demonstrate work experience in a Saskatchewan in-demand occupation.

To apply to the SINP’s Express Entry sub-category, candidates must have an active Express Entry profile with a Job Seeker Validation Code.

Further, candidates will need to create an account in the SINP’s online system and score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 on the SINP's unique assessment grid.

Once an intake period is announced by the SINP, candidates who are prepared with the required documentation may be able to submit a complete application before the sub-category reaches its intake cap, which has time and again filled within hours.
