The federal and provincial governments, especially the ministry of education and colleges and universities have invested so much time and money into encouraging Canadians to go into the skilled trades. They’re not interested. There are so many grants and incentives. I’m no blaming Canadians – some are tough jobs that have you working outdoors in the winter. Unfortunately too many Canadians say train Canadians but they actually mean train “other” Canadians. I know many prospective employers who want to train but can’t find trainees. Let’s not bite off our nose to spite our face. We need skill.
