New draw pushes Manitoba’s 2019 invitation total over 3,000

Manitoba held its seventh Expression of Interest draw of 2019 on March 28, inviting 595 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.聽

The invitations went to candidates in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)'s Skilled Worker Overseas, Skilled Worker in Manitoba and International Education streams.

The new invitations bring the total issued by the MPNP through these streams so far this year to 3,199.

Those invited in the March 28 draw had an (EOI) profile registered with the MPNP. Submitting an EOI profile is the first required step in order to be considered for a nomination from Manitoba through the Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker in Manitoba streams and most pathways under the International Education Stream.

EOI profiles are awarded based on factors that include education, work experience, language proficiency and established connections to Manitoba and the highest-ranked candidates are issued a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) through regular invitation rounds.

An unspecified number of candidates with a profile in the were among a group of 260 candidates who received LAAs in the March 28 draw.

Express Entry candidates who received an LAA were required to have a valid Express Entry ID and job-seeker validation code and at least聽six months of recent work experience in a profession on Manitoba's .

Express Entry candidates who apply for and receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points toward their , effectively assuring an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

Another subset of Skilled Workers Overseas candidates who received invitations on March 28 had the following credentials:

  • a close relative residing in Manitoba or past education or work experience in Manitoba;
  • at least six months of recent experience in an occupation on Manitoba鈥檚 ; and
  • a minimum language proficiency in English or French of CLB/NCLC 5 unless the work experience is primarily in a regulated occupation, in which case the requirement is a minimum of CLB/NCLC 7, or a compulsory trade, in which case the minimum is CLB/NCLC 6.

The lowest-ranked candidate among this group of Skilled Workers Overseas candidates had an EOI score of 563.

Another 29 Skilled Worker Overseas candidates were issued LAAs through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative in the March 28 draw. These initiatives include overseas recruitment missions conducted by the MPNP in association with Manitoba businesses.

The lowest-ranked candidate among this group had an EOI score of 719.

Skilled Workers in Manitoba and International Education Stream

The MPNP also issued 262 invitations to candidates with scores as low as 433 in the March 1 draw.

This was the lowest score so far in 2019 for a Skilled Worker in Manitoba draw.

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream is for eligible qualified temporary foreign workers and international student graduates who are currently working in Manitoba and have been offered a permanent job with their Manitoba employer.

An additional 44 invitations went to 听肠补苍诲颈诲补迟别蝉.

This stream provides three pathways to permanent residence for eligible international graduates of Manitoba post-secondary institutions.
