Manitoba invites 230 skilled foreign workers and international student graduates

Manitoba issued 230 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in its 77th Manitoba Expression of Interest (EOI) draw on November 21.听

This latest draw issued invitations to candidates in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)鈥檚 , and 聽immigration streams.

The 230 LAAs issued in the November 21 draw were distributed as follows:

  • Skilled Worker in Manitoba: 185
  • Skilled Worker Overseas: 16
  • International Education Stream: 29

The new invitations bring the total issued to skilled worker and International Education Stream candidates this year to 7,141.

Invitations through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas are based on an .听

Each candidate creates a profile that is ranked out of . Points are awarded for a candidate鈥檚 education, work experience, connections to Manitoba and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.

A set number of the highest-scoring candidates receive an LAA, allowing them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence from Manitoba.听

In the latest draw, the lowest-ranked candidate invited under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream had a score of 504. The lowest-ranked candidate invited from the Skilled Workers Overseas stream had a score of 739.

The 16 candidates invited through the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream were invited directly by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Express Entry candidates invited

Of the candidates selected in the November 21 draw, 20 were issued to candidates who had a valid ID.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 (CRS) points, which effectively guarantee an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.听

To be considered for a provincial nomination from Manitoba, Express Entry candidates must have eligible work experience in one of Manitoba鈥檚 , among .听

They must also submit a separate to the MPNP.

Skilled Worker Overseas and in Manitoba

The MPNP鈥檚 allows the MPNP to select and nominate skilled foreign workers who can help support Manitoba鈥檚 labour market.

Candidates must have an established connection to Manitoba such as close family or friends, previous education or work experience in the province, or an invitation through one of the MPNP鈥檚 Strategic Recruitment Initiatives, among other requirements.

They do not need to be in Manitoba at the time of application in order to qualify.

Candidates invited through the must be working in Manitoba and have a full-time, permanent job offer from their employer, among .

International Education Stream

Manitoba graduates with certain in-demand skills may be invited under the .

This stream includes three sub-categories: , , and the .
