Three Canadian provinces have nominated candidates in the (PNP) this week.

Because immigration is shared between the federal and provincial governments, provinces are able to select the economic immigration candidates that they feel will integrate easily into the local economy and labour force. A nomination makes a candidate鈥檚 application for permanent residence much stronger when they apply to (IRCC).

Provinces are allocated a limited number of nominations they can use to invite candidates. The number of nominations a province is allocated depends on factors such as the population, the local economy, available settlement services for newcomers and more.

All Canadian provinces and territories have PNPs except Nunavut and . Quebec has a separate agreement with the federal government that gives it the authority to select all its own economic immigrants, rather than just an allocated amount.
